Breaking Camp: How To End Your Camping Trip The Proper Way

November 14th, 2009 · No Comments

A camping trip can be one of the most enjoyable and peaceful activities you can do outdoors, but at some point your camping fun has to wind down. And alas, that means your camping expedition is just about to be wrapped up. But before you pack up and head back to civilization, there are a few tasks you want to do to make sure your camping trip ends on a pleasant note.

To start, be positive that your camping equipment has been place away. Make an effort to have some rags or a whisk broom on hand to wipe off your equipment while you pack it up. It will be very advantageous if you try to keep your camping equipment organized like it was before you left home. You should also keep all of your dirty garments together in their own plastic bag to make it simpler for you to wash them as soon as you get home.

Next, check your cooler for any food or excess water that may be left over. Get it as sterile as you can and add some fresh ice if you still have food to carry home. Maintaining a tidy cooler by eliminating excess trash can be a lifesaver if you want to delight in a cool drink or fresh bite to eat on your long ride home.

Another essential component of departing the camp site is to make sure that you have gathered up all of the trash. Nothing is more exasperating than having to pick up a bunch of rubbish that was left by the campers that just stayed there. It does not take very long to look around and pick up any leftover trash that might have missed the waste bin. Taking the time to clean up your area before you leave will make certain that everyone gets to delight in the magnificent scenery of the campsite.

The last but most vital thing you must do before you leave the campsite is smother your camp fire. This is enormously imperative as you do not want the responsibility of having caused a forest fire. Just to be sure that the camp fire has been completely extinguished, use the excess water from your cooler or water from a different resource to smother the entire firepit area. By no means leave your camp site without checking to make sure your camp fire is completely out.

If you make an effort to follow these tips, your camp site will be in admirable shape when you are geared up to leave. And believe me when I tell you that your fellow campers will be pleased about it!
