Lake Tahoe - back to nature
Back to Nature at Lake Tahoe.
Did you know that Squaw Valley was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics? Gorgeous and unforgettable, Lake Tahoe ski sites are famous the world over for the spectacular scenery and power. The Sierra Mountains of California and Nevada cradle beautiful Take Tahoe, fringed with almost 100 miles of shoreline which in turn boasts a cornucopia of popular tourist activities.
Lake Tahoe sport fishing, Lake Tahoe camping, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, snowboarding, water and jetskis, even helicopter adventures… this is only a partial list of activities offered by this incredible vacation spot.
The lake itself is famous for its blue-blue color and pristine reflecting surface. Second deepest in the United States, it boasts some of the finest prize sport fishing in the world. Lake Tahoe travelers also enjoy boating, cruises and festivals, summer and winter, not to mention the famous casinos, restaurants, museums and five-star hotels. In lovely Lake Tahoe, everything, it seems, is geared toward helping the vacationer find anything and everything he or she could possibly desire in order to create lifelong memories of the perfect lake vacation.
Hone your hiking techniques on a commercial rock-climbing wall, or practice your archery with one of the local professionals. Grab a cruise, learn to parachute jump… or try the fantastic trails on a hike that you will never forget.
If you hike the back country, you'll need a wilderness permit, and day-hikers can get theirs at the local gas stations. Overnight hikers and campers need to get permits from a visitor center or the local Forest Service Office. Don't forget to leash your pet and don't light campfires, as they are forbidden in "Desolation Wilderness."
The only pesky part about designing your perfect Lake Tahoe vacation is figuring out what to choose from all the many activities offered. Happy naturing!
